Les Huttes D'Oye, Oye Plage.
AOK 15, KVA B, M.K.B. Stp. Oye-Plage.
Along the road, coming from Grand Fort Philippe (and Les Dunes D'Oye, Wn. Luise) towards Les Huttes D'Oye, near a big parking-place the tower is clearly visible. The two M270's are at the back of the parking-place and are nowadays in use by bird-watching people.
The first M270 casemate is closed and in use by the bird-watchers, the second one is almost completely blown up and only the frond of the casemate is recognisable. The 134 ammunition bunker near the tower is rather special; the two rooms have an additional kind of cellar. There was another strange detail; the roof of the corridor is not horizontal, the two doors are lower than at the middle of the roof, so there is a kind of curve in the ceiling.
The absolute beauty of this location is the famous Sk. fire-control tower. Because of the flat land in front of the battery, a high observation point was needed. The tower was camouflaged as a church (the pointy roof). The tower has three levels, only the first level can be visited (without a rope/ladder of course). A dead dog on the floor was a nasty surprise to us. The lower part of the tower with the additional rooms has been blown and that resulted in the position that the tower is in nowadays; it is hanging over like the tower of Pisa.
